What does it mean that the grsecurity patches are licensed under the GPLv2?
The rights and obligations under the GPLv2 are listed at http://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/gpl-2.0.en.html. You may use, copy, modify, and distribute any Linux kernel modified by combination with grsecurity patches under the terms of GPLv2.
Is making and using copies of grsecurity patches within a single organization considered redistribution?
No, making and using copies of the patches within a single organization is not considered redistribution. See the GPL FAQ here: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/gpl-2.0-faq.en.html#InternalDistribution.
What are some circumstances under which Open Source Security, Inc. may terminate the access agreement?
We reserve the right to revoke access to future updates of grsecurity patches and changelogs at any time for any reason. Our reasons for termination may include:
- The customer violates the GPL: We support the GPL and require that all our customers comply with the GPL. Customers of any product that uses grsecurity in binary form are entitled to the complete corresponding source code. Companies who do not ship the complete corresponding source code alongside distributed binaries must provide their customers with a written offer for the source code transferrable to any other person and valid for three years.
- Distribution or installation of grsecurity patches in violation of the terms of the access agreement and/or of any service or pricing agreements between the customer and Open Source Security, Inc.
